Since 2001, we have provided a parish home for those who desire to worship the Lord in a traditional and liturgical manner, grounded in the historic faith and practice of the Anglican tradition.
We are a parish of the Reformed Episcopal Church (REC), a founding jurisdiction of the Anglican Church in North America. Within the REC, we belong to the Diocese of Mid-America, under the episcopal oversight of the Most Rev. Ray R. Sutton.
Our worship follows the historic 1662 order for Holy Communion, and our congregational singing is drawn from The Hymnal (1940).
We welcome visitors who are seeking reverent, Scripture-shaped worship and a parish life rooted in prayer, the historic creeds, and the rich heritage of English hymnody. What you will find is a close-knit and friendly congregation, gathered not around novelty or performance, but around the faithful worship of God and the life of His Church.

Beating the Bounds
Beating the Bounds is an ancient British tradition dating back to medieval times. It was a practical way for parishes to mark and remember their boundary lines long before accurate maps existed.
In an era when most of England was organized into church parishes, the clergy and church wardens were responsible for their spiritual and physical care. Each year, the community would walk the parish boundaries together. They carried sticks or canes and would “beat” the boundary markers — stones, trees, walls, and gateposts — to reaffirm where the parish began and ended. This also served as a memorable way to pass the knowledge from one generation to the next.
The procession often included the boys of the parish. Historical records from the 16th century show they were paid to carry planks across muddy ditches and open sewers so the clergy’s robes stayed clean. When they reached the boundary stones, the boys were sometimes whipped (a memorable but stern teaching method!) and given two pence “for their pains.”
The tradition was banned under Oliver Cromwell but was enthusiastically revived in the Victorian era. Many English churches still observe it today.
At Covenant Church, we’re bringing this rich tradition to life in a joyful, family-friendly way. We’ll walk the boundaries of our property, stopping at each corner and key landmark for “boundary lessons” on the richness and scope of the Anglican tradition. Sticks are encouraged — but we promise there will be no whipping!
